NOOSA FISHING CHARTERS & STAYS

ABOUT US

We welcome you to step inside and experience a slice of paradise at Noosa Sportfishing Lodge.

Nestled on the forefront of the beautiful Noosa River, we are privileged to have direct access to the rich offshore fishing grounds surrounding the Sunshine Coast. As Noosa’s one and only fishing lodge, we provide unique luxury stays whether you’re an angler or non-angler alike. Noosa fishing charters depart daily for those looking for day trips without the accommodation.

We offer a range of fishing packages to stay and fish direct out of both Noosa and Fraser Island, as well as family orientated stays. Our offshore grounds boast a diverse range of both tropical and subtropical species and provide you with some of the best year-round fishing charters along Australia’s magnificent coastline.

FISHING OUT OF NOOSA

Come join us to experience the incredible diversity of year-round fishing the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Whether you are looking for adrenalin-pumping, hard fighters or colourful bottom dwellers, Noosa Sportfishing Lodge has it all.

Our fantastic local fishery allows us to offer you vast diversity amongst not only species, but fishing techniques, styles and locations too. Fishing from our custom built 30’ Kevlacat, ‘Good Company’, you will be aboard Noosa’s fastest and most luxurious charter vessel.

Take a look at our Fish Calendar for species present on the Sunshine Coast throughout the year.

Departing from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, we have the ability to chase the bite from the top of Cape Moreton right up to Fraser Island and our 30’ Kevlacat allows us to reach these fishing grounds fast and maximise the fishing opportunities each day.

Our specialised Fraser Island Liveaboard package fishes the iconic Breaksea Spit, Rooney Point and beyond.

Lucky for us, Noosa offers fantastic year-round fishing! In early summer, the East Australian Current starts to flow down Queensland’s coastline. This brings with it a wide variety of pelagic fish and is the key to our exciting game fishing season.

Later in the year as the current slows, we move in to our sportfishing season with an amazing variety of desirable demersal fish as well as hard fighting fish on the jig, which will keep you coming back for more. Take a look at our Noosa Fishing Calendar for more details.

While Black Marlin are still present, our Mackerel and Tuna season really heats up once March rolls around. Large schools of bait enter our inshore fishing grounds and the predators follow. Longtail Tuna fill Laguna Bay and surrounds; these fish offer insane sportfishing with double digit fish days for anglers certainly not uncommon.

Topwater and soft plastics, as well as live baits, are top of the menu for the Longtail Tuna. Spanish Mackerel offer a regular distraction from the Tuna and also diversify our menu back at the lodge. Reef fishing is also top notch this time of year with April and May being peak season for Coral Trout. May also represents the start of the Snapper season which will peak through the winter and finish up in October.

While it is our game fishing season, we are not restricted to only game fishing however we like to target what is around at the time of year. May is also our peak heavy tackle fishing time for Blue & Striped Marlin. We fish the continental shelf out from Cape Moreton and Noosa.

As the current begins to slow down and the temperatures cool, our peak reef and sportfishing season kicks off. We use a range of techniques during our inshore season which include jigging and soft plastic fishing, live baiting, lure casting, trolling and bottom fishing.

Demersal species such as Snapper, Pearl Perch, Red Emperor, Nannygai, Jobfish and Jewfish are plentiful during these months and anglers also get to enjoy targeting a wide variety of hard fighting sportfish such as Kingfish, Amberjack, Trevally, Cobia and Spanish Mackerel. We have an incredible Kingfish fishery that kicks off in June with fish averaging from 6-10kg in amazingly shallow crystal-clear waters.

From June until October, we also have the opportunity to target some large Yellowfin Tuna that will be present out wide off Cape Moreton. October also brings with it Sailfish on the first flush of the EAC (East Australian Current).

While it is our sportfishing season, we are not restricted to only sportfishing however we like to target what is around at the time of year.

With the warm water brought down from North Queensland by the EAC (East Australian Current) comes the juvenile Black Marlin. November and December are the peak months for our amazing juvenile Black Marlin season here on the Sunshine Coast.

These fish are great fun on light tackle and exciting for novice and veteran anglers alike. By-catch this time of the year can come in the form of the spectacular Mahi Mahi or Wahoo, however anything is possible. While the Marlin here on the coast take the lime light this time of year, there are always plenty of other options to help fill your trip. Sharks on the inshore reefs can be a pest at this time of year but with them they can bring huge numbers of Cobia which are excellent sport, while trying your luck on other species like Coral Trout, Pearl Perch and many more.

We also offer Fraser Island Liveaboard packages fishing and exploring the iconic island during this time.
